Dawna and Johnny
Dawna and Johnny have been engaged for more than 7 years (and together for almost 15), after Johnny popped the question on a Valentine’s weekend getaway. They have a large family, including four sons and a daughter between the two of them, and getting the whole family together for a destination wedding has proved difficult and costly.
Paula and Kenneth
Paula and Kenneth credit God and destiny for bringing them together after being introduced by Paula’s mother in 2005. Kenneth proposed in front of his church congregation last year and has been by Paula’s side to comfort her with love and laughter through her diagnosis and life with chronic inflammatory disease.
Christina and Chris
Christina and Chris became engaged while celebrating Valentine’s Day 2014 after Chris led his lady love on a scavenger hunt that relived all the ‘firsts’ in their relationship. Despite living in different states at times over the course of their relationship, nothing can keep them apart.
Kimberly and Andrew
Kimberly and Andrew have known each other since high school, but as Andrew explains it: “Kimberly was the ‘out of my league’ girl of everyone’s dreams and I was the play-by-the-rules, stuck-in-the-friend-zone nice guy.” As fate would have it more than a decade later, Kimberly walked into Andrew’s life again.
Kalyn and Joshua
Kalyn and Joshua are high school sweethearts who have been engaged since Joshua popped the question in front of Kalyn’s family on Christmas Eve 2012. They like to watch comedies, go on long drives on summer nights, and basically just laugh and have a fun time together. They are not only a couple, but are the best of friends.
Melissa and Chris
Melissa and Chris got to know each other when, shortly after meeting, someone hit Melissa’s car and drove off without leaving information. Chris, the son of Melissa’s boss and an auto body tech, was there to save the day (and give her an estimate on getting her car fixed!). Chris brought his three-year-old song along to pop the question and asked Melissa to “marry me and marry us”.
Nicole and David
Nicole and David have been engaged for almost a year, though they have not lived in the same city for their entire relationship. David is in the Army and currently stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska so he and Nicole are only able to see each other about four times a year in week-long stints. In June 2013, David popped the question on a train platform, surrounded by mountains, as they rode through Denali National Park.
Braxton and David
Braxton and David are true children of the social media generation – you can watch their engagement on YouTube! In November 2013 David surprised Braxton with a weekend getaway, where he asked her to marry him and secretly recorded the special moment. Timing has not been on their side recently and they had to put their wedding plans on hold.
Amanda and Joshua
Amanda and Joshua have been engaged for more than three years. They’re both single parents and look to officially bring their family together by sharing the same last name. They didn’t go the “down-on-one-knee” proposal route; instead, they came to a mutual agreement that one day they will make their family whole. As Amanda says “Joshua has been the best father to my son and I have been his boys’ mother since day one.”
Janice and Eric
Janice and Eric have been engaged since December 2013, though Eric’s sweet six-year-old son may have won Janice’s heart before he did! They had another son together and today their boys are nine and two and couldn’t be healthier or happier. Janice is so glad to be marrying her best friend, and anything they save on the wedding will go towards a down payment for their first home.
