Innsbrook’s New Water Tower: What Residents Need to Know
Innsbrook Corporation has added a new water tower near the Konstanz entrance, designed to serve residents who receive water from Innsbrook Utilities. Here’s a rundown on what residents can expect from this major infrastructure update, set to benefit the community in multiple ways.
Who Will Benefit from the New Water Tower?
The new water tower will serve Innsbrook residents who receive their water through Innsbrook Utilities (note that some residents get water from PWSD#2, which is not connected to this tower). With a capacity to store up to 400,000 gallons—four times more than our existing green tower—the new tower is built to handle the increased demand for water, especially during the busy summer months when the community sees a surge in usage.
Project Timeline: When Will It Be Operational?
Construction on the water tower is ongoing and is set to wrap up before the end of the year. The tower will connect to Innsbrook’s water system and is estimated to be fully functional by Spring 2025. Exact dates are still unknown, as the project is highly weather dependent.
Connecting to Existing Infrastructure
Unlike some infrastructure projects, no new underground pipes will be required for the water tower. It will simply hook into Innsbrook’s existing water system, drawing from our current deep well and treated by Innsbrook Corporation’s water facilities. Regular maintenance on our water system will continue as usual, ensuring the ongoing integrity of our water supply.
Understanding the Source and Storage of Water
The new tower will store water drawn from an existing deep well, treated to ensure adequate potability. The significant increase in storage capacity not only helps during peak times but also ensures a reliable reserve in case of emergencies, such as a fire.
Why Build a Tower So High?
Building a water tower high in the air has three main advantages: it pressurizes the distribution system through gravity, keeps water cooler (reducing bacterial growth), and ensures water storage safety by placing it out of reach of ground fires.
Funding and Costs
The construction of the new water tower has been fully funded by the Innsbrook Corporation, which means assessment monies from residents have not been used to cover this project. While residents have a line item in their assessment for water usage and delivery, this is separate from the cost of building the tower.
Will the Tower Be Painted?
Yes. Weather providing, painting of the new water tower should begin the week of October 28.
Why a New Water Tower Was Needed
With Innsbrook’s steady growth, the demand for water has surged, particularly during the summer when more homeowners and guests are present. The new water tower is designed to ease pressure on the existing system and ensure adequate water supply during peak times. Additionally, the increased capacity means first responders will have immediate access to water in emergencies without impacting residents’ water supply.
Thank you to all residents for your patience as this project nears completion. If you have any other concerns or questions, please contact Innsbrook’s Utilities Director, Joe Kueper, at 636.928.3366 x:9231.
