Comfort Foods to Warm Your Soul

“When sick, or tired, or far from home, everyone seems to yearn for the gastronomic equivalent of a warm sweater or a favorite blanket.”

Now that the Midwest chill is beginning to creep into our bones, we start turning towards our stash of soup, chili, and other warmth-inducing foods we save for the late-autumn season. Consuming these comfort foods keeps us cozy, reminds us of family, and may even be tradition.

Fret not, no need to go to the grocery store and whip up these items yourself – Hanneken’s new fall menu has all your palate-pleasing seasonal favorites to warm your soul.

Executive Chef Dan Thomas jazzed up classic comfort food Macaroni and Cheese by baking it with crab and a blend of sharp cheddar, gruyere, and jack cheese.

The new Hanneken’s menu also features one of America’s favorite comfort foods: Chicken Pot Pie. Tender chunks of chicken, slow-cooked with carrots, celery, potatoes, peas, and mushrooms in a rich creamy chicken broth and baked with a pastry shell.

Celebrate the harvest season with Hanneken’s Wheat Berry Salad: salad greens topped with a mixture of wheat berries, celery, red bell pepper, carrot, dried cranberries, and granny smith apples.
