Girl Scout Troop 702 from Green Trails Elementary in Chesterfield recently cast their lines into a new adventure, learning the art of fishing at Innsbrook thanks to volunteers of the Innsbrook Fishing Club.
Troop leader Rebecca Hillman, a Chesterfield resident and neighbor to Kurt Kruger, an Innsbrook property owner for 30+ years, envisioned a fun and educational day outdoors for the girls, their siblings, and family members. In collaboration with Kruger, a founding member of the Fishing Club, Innsbrook Fishing Club members volunteered their time to lead the hands-on experience.
Held at the community pond behind the Charrette Creek Commons, the event offered the girls a chance to try their hand at using fishing rods, learn about different bait types, and understand when to use them. The experience was further enriched thanks to a special rod/reel loan program from the Missouri Department of Conservation, which provided the Fishing Club with 16 brand new rods, reels and tackle to teach new anglers the fun of fishing. Additionally, Zebco donated three fishing rod and reel combos and various tackle items to award the Girl Scouts during their day at Innsbrook.
